    Regarding the houses in Mill Hill, yes, the one in the middle was our home, Ladycroft. What a mess it looks there, it used to have a lovely garden, front and back. The other pictures have got to be the same house at various stages throughout the years. A few years ago I did a Google Earth on it and was amazed to see a helipad under construction! I’m not absolutely sure if that was on our house, though.

    In the bottom shot (showing the awful gates) there is an almost identical house next door. This must be ‘Hylmary’. Both houses were built by our grandfather - ‘Hylmary’ (geddit?)for his own family and ‘Ladycroft’ for his sister, Georgiana. I’m surprised Ladycroft has survived as a house name, as this area is now mainly lived in by Jewish families, I understand. The story goes that Poppy sold up and moved to the Midlands during the war (John may know that house), Georgiana stayed put ( maybe Charlie lived there too at some point) and then they all died leaving the house to the 3 sisters, then Ann and Ruddy bought Monnie and Joan out and we moved in. Subsequently after the war Nana and Poppy moved back to the area, buying 83 Uphill Road and Monnie and Ambrose bought next door. I’m sure you can remember this!
